29 Jan 2008

Another amazing day in utah was had. We woke up early this morning to make sure we had first tracks at Deer Valley. Excited by a report stating 11 new inches had fallen, the total for the past 48 hours indicated over 2 ft of snow. The only difference this morning was that we were greeted with bluebird skies and sun making things quite picturesque. Check out the photos below and you'll get a good taste of what i'm talkin about. You always know its gonna be a good day when all you hear are the sound of avalanche control cannons pounding the mountains :-) Overall the day was amazing, and we are all dead tired by the end. After this brief break in snow, it seems as though yet another storm will leave us with another foot of snow in the morning. If that weren't enough, all through the day we should recieve another 12-15 inches bringing the total 24 hr snow report to 27" inches of snow. Although we are exhausted after 3 continuous days of skiing, we can't pass up another powder day. Assuming we don't get stopped at the base of Little Cottonwood canyon, we'll enjoy our day at Alta who recieves over 500 inches of snow a year !!

Signing off for now,

-mark
